The Cult of Identity
This project is a research-led, design-based exploration that asks a simple but uncomfortable question: How much of you is actually you? This project interrogates the layers of identity we carry, the ones handed to us before we had a say. From the roles shaped by family, religion, gender, and class, to the final confrontation with the self, the work dissects what’s inherited, what’s performed, and what’s been chosen.
Through a mix of experimental collage, bold typography, and direct, confronting questions, the project unfolds in five acts: Inheritance, Devotion, Hierarchy, Flesh, and Rebellion. Each visual chapter builds an emotional and visual language that challenges the viewer to confront the forces that have shaped them. The work isn’t about providing answers; it’s about creating space for reflection, disruption, and critical thought.
By combining handmade collage techniques, found imagery, and typographic experimentation, The Cult of Identity invites the viewer not just to observe, but to pause, to question, and to reexamine the framework of their own identity. It’s a personal and universal journey, one that asks you to stop assuming and start unravelling.
